There will always be people waiting to put you down. Looking for your flaws. Pointing out your mistakes. If you give these people room inside your mind and your heart, your self worth will quickly dwindle. You'll lose sight of how valuable you are in the eyes of God.
We're so quick to place stock in what others think of us. We define ourselves using the terms we hear. We allow looks of disdain to cause us to withdraw from our purpose. I want to encourage you friends to stop looking for your worth to come from others... Especially those that don't truly see at you... Those that are only looking for the negative.
Instead let's look to God's word for our true value.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” -1 Samuel 16:7
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. -2 Corinthians 5:17
God's love for us is indescribable! Look to Him and see what you are worth.
Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. -1 Peter 1:18-19
Wow! That sure gave me a swift kick in the pants! I may never be what this world sees as valuable or important. I may never achieve anything worthy of being mentioned to the generations that come after me. I may never be what today's society deems successful. But in the eyes of my God, where it truly matters, I'm so much more than that!
So I will purpose to remember where my worth comes from. I'll fight against negative influences on my psyche. I'll look to God for my sense of self worth. My prayer is that you will find the strength and courage to do the same. Allow God to wrap you in His grace. To fill your heart with is love. To secure your thoughts in His word.
Push the things and thoughts of this world away. Fill the spaces in your mind and heart with Christ. Be malleable for Him. Allow Him to use you.
I pray God blesses your day!
